Our practice

Paddington Medical Centre front window

We are experienced Specialist General Practitioners. We aim to provide individualised high quality care, sensitive to the needs of all ages and groups in the community. We participate in ongoing education and quality assurance and our practice is fully accredited, which entails rigorous external assessment.

Hours & Appointments

Weekdays 9am - 1pm & 2pm - 6pm
Saturdays 9am - 1pm

We are an appointment only practice; however in urgent situations, particularly for sick children, we will do our utmost to see you at short notice.

When booking appointments please let the receptionist know if you require a longer consultation. The receptionist may ask about your appointment needs, not to invade your privacy but to allow for better allocation of time.

As emergencies occur, please call ahead to check if we are running to time. If you are unable to attend your appointment please call the surgery as we usually have extensive waiting lists. Cancellation fees may apply if less than 24 hours notice is given for missed appointments.

Telephone Calls

To avoid disturbing other patients a message will be taken and your call returned as soon as possible, usually at the end of the morning or afternoon sessions. Emergency calls are put through immediately. If the matter is complex a consultation may be more appropriate.

Test Results

We endeavour to notify urgent results by telephone or less urgent via our no reply email results service. Your doctor will advise whether an appointment is needed to discuss results. Please also note that whilst we store results as part of your medical record, its important that you collect your xrays for personal safekeeping. Uncollected xrays are archived after 3 months due to space limitations and an hourly fee applies to retrieve xray films from storage after that time.

Billing

We are a private billing practice. You will need to claim your rebate from medicare. The charges will vary according to time and complexity and are paid at the time of consultation. Please ask at reception for our current fee information. We have eftpos facilities and accept most credit cards but not Diners or Amex. Forms for lodgement of medicare claims are available. A charge applies for repeat referrals and prescriptions written outside of consultation times. Most pathology is bulkbilled.

Home visits

For existing local area only patients medically unable to attend or physically access the surgery home visits can be booked.

After Hours Care

For urgent attention at night and on weekends please call our deputising service on 1300 729 749 to arrange a visit. In the event of an emergency please ring the emergency number 000.
